Description

TS 1278 Bungaree Norah

Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Concrete pillar with masts and vanes still attached. There was a yellow arrow and the word trig painted on the roadside at the best place to climb the hill.

Bit wet trip after all the rain but it’s there in all it’s glory.

We made the fairly leisurely walk up from the grassy area to the west of the trig - there is even a track as you get closer. The greenery hasn't completely obscured the view yet either....

I overthought the access to this one, looking for access from the lighthouse side. Also don't believe what you rad painted on the road...there is no way you could get to the trip following that advice. Picture included.

Today's novo lockdown recreation was undertaken with a little trig-hunting around the north of our LGA. All up we found three with one of them at this stage unlisted. We found the trail up to this one ok and enjoyed the short stroll to GZ where a trig popped out! Love finding these bad boys! This one is missing the nameplate unfortunately but the concrete base looks recently painted. The mast is in good condition as are the vanes but the braces are getting a little rusty. Re photo: I PROMISE that is lemonade in those cans but by looking at their faces you would think they're drinking something else lol. Dad holds the GPS loudly and proudly. TFTC and views.

out at Norah Head for a few days and found a couple of unlisted trig stations near by in the NSW Survey app and had to check them out. eventually found the best way up the hill that some nice person had marked on the roadside and after a short bush bash up the hill we came across a near perfect Trig station.
