Description

CORS station, collecting geodetic data from GNSS (Continually Operating Reference Stations).

CORSnet-NSW is a precise positioning service that gives users access to fast and accurate positioning and guidance solutions across NSW. In recent years, precise positioning and guidance systems have emerged as useful tools across a variety of applications such as:

• Surveying

• Agriculture

• Construction

• Emergency services

• Mining

• Scientific research

• Asset management

CORSnet-NSW uses the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology to provide an accurate spatial reference network for NSW and support the growing number of precisepositioning and guidance applications throughout the State.

How does it work?

The service is delivered by a network of permanent GNSS receivers – known as Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) – that are strategically located across NSW. The CORSnet-NSW network continuously observes and corrects satellite navigation signals in order to achieve international standard, high accuracy positioning data for NSW. The data is streamed to users via a wireless internet connection.

out finding trigs with team737 and barefootjeff today. The weather was great and we had a really good day. It was really cool watching Lee flying his drone to get the photo for this cache. That's me in the red in the photo at the gate.

After kayaking on Lake Macquarie with Mighty Minions and Team737 for a couple of water-access trigs, we headed around to this one. With the CORS not visible from outside the facility, Lee launched his drone, getting a photo of the CORS with us in the background standing just outside the gate. Many thanks for the listing here.

We had a great day out on the water in the area today, going for lakeside trigs via kayak, with Mighty Minions and barefootjeff in our flotilla. After the ships were docked, we headed over to the sewerage treatment plant (as you do!).... Obscured by buildings? We do love climbing trees, and indeed just bought some new technical tree climbing gear, but today deployed the drone. There were no signs prohibiting flying drones over sewerage treatment plants (although I'm sure there would a by-law somewhere!) so without anyone around to ask, we launched. There it is, right on the opposite side of the larger building looking from the gate. Thats us standing at the gate BTW.... Smile

This CORS is obscured by the building. I'm sure you could see it in you went into the bush across the road and went up a tree.
