Description

Water tower

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the centre point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape.
Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Off on a mid week break with Just a cacher to enjoy the sunshine and follow the river for a while when we noticed that this cache was nearby.

After finding a spot to pull over with a view of the trig it was a quick grab and then on our way again.

Thanks for the trig.

Out with Black Bunny for a midweek break and spotted this one as we were passing.

A quick grab here today.

Thanks for the trig.

22-Apr-24
We were here earlier while doing one of the Adventure Labs in town.
Came back later to get the required photo for this cache. Could have saved us a bit of running around if we'd realised.
Second Tassie visitor in three days.
Thanks.

Trawling through the database for GCA caches for an upcoming trip and stumbled across this cache. Couldn't believe I had never logged it. Especially considering I spent many, many thousands of hours in the building at the base of this water tower over the last 35 years.
Smiley finally added.

I have been meaning to log this trig for so long, but just haven't got around to it.
With the cacheopoly game, now I had better as it meets the required criteria.

29-Nov-23
Found on a very wet trip from Swan Hill to Albury.
I had trouble finding somewhere to park to take a photo. It was raining in Echuca, and the traffic was hectic. TFTT

We had been away rock climbing at Mt Arapiles near Horsham. Unfortunately my climbing partner had an injury that lead us to not be able to finish our week of climbing and we were looking for another way to make the trip home longer and more interesting so we decided to get a string of trigs and caches on the way. This one was a nice easy find as it is quite easy to see on the skyline of Echuca. I was not able to see a disk on it anymore but I have logged it as many others have. TFTC

A handy 2 for 1 location. Hadn't realised this was a trig until we checked the site. They come in so many disguises... TFTT GCA

12-Oct-22
We arrived in Echuca ahead of the forecast rain bomb so tried to grab as many caches and adventure labs as possible before the big event starts. This one was on the hit list and wasn't hard to find as it was just across the road from where we were staying. TFTT

I took a pre-dinner stroll down here for this pair of GCA caches. This was first and despite the gloomy conditions, I was able to grab the shot at 17:25. Dancing

Thanks Geocaching Australia.

#GA5555 - 08:05; Day 3 of the Wang Mega tour with Sol de lune. Today we are headed west from our overnighter at the Falcon Hotel (great meals and hospitality) caching our way to Mildura, the next stop on our itinerary. After claiming the "Downunder Dunny" we were on the road again and passing through Echuca where this trig was on the list. Grabbed a snap and on our way again. LuckyL10n and I attended the Mega at Wangaratta and then headed to Mildura as LL had some non caching business to sort, and Echuca was our first overnight stop. A few new trigs have been published since our visited and the plan was to grab these as well. No issue with this tower and the required photo was soon snapped.

Thanks for another trig.....
