I came here for a GC cache, but I was in such a rush (still some distance to travel) that I forgot to check for GA caches. Now I see I do believe I got the CORS in this photograph. TFTC.

Stop number one for this, my longest trig and trad trip ever. I took a shot with the SLR and the new iPhone I got yesterday. I have not figured out how to use it properly, so my photo is a photo of the iPhone from the iPad. First for me!

Found on our trip on the Big Island

I still love stopping here when passing through. In the past I wasn't allowed to because we were always running late for something, so I enjoy stopping here when I can, even if it's just in the carpark in the rain looking up at the telescope.

Speaking of which, the other day when I did just that, the clouds looked fairly constant except a weird circular change right where the telescope was pointing. It had never occurred to me that radio waves might affect clouds. Do they? Or was it just a coincidence? I'll add a pic.

Today it was sunny and too bloody hot so I wasted $7.50 on a large cup of almond milk and chocolate syrup. No ice. No icecream. No cream. And I had healthier and higher quality ingredients in my caravan in the carpark! Doh Oh well, we learn the hard way sometimes.

When I first arrived I was considering posting a note on this about telephoto shots and phones on airplane mode, but when I wandered up to the fence I figured it wasn't that far so took a shot to claim a find. About 6 years ago I came here for an open day and wandered around in the building below the telescope. I could have got a close up shot of the little white post that day if I'd known it was a CORs. It's a shame the other 2 trigs here are too far out to get to unless authorised.

After throwing down the drink in the cafe without aircon, it was time to go back inside. I nearly fell asleep a number of times watching the 3D films. I mainly went in there just to sit in aircon for half an hour. They weren't too bad though. I was just tired. On the way out I bought a little something for myself which I think I'll make tomorrow with my Jasmine. I'm seriously considering scanning the book to attempt making it out of something that lasts longer than paper at a later date. I could then also share it with friends. Hmmm.
