This is a TrigPoint Cache. There are no physical geocache containers with logbooks or swap items relating to this cache here. Fingal Head Lighthouse (TS5274) 

In 1942 the centre top of the lighthouse was 'adopted' as a trig. Later, the trig station was listed as 'centre of finial ball'. Later again a concrete pillar trig was installed (TS7176, the one currently sitting beside the lighthouse) and the lighthouse trig was 'relegated'. The finial ball is still there today and therefore so is this old trigonometric station.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to. 

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

Access: Park at S28° 12.073' E153° 34.054' and wonder along the Fingal Lighthouse Track. A great location.
