Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Access: Park off Mount Glorious Road S27° 17.857' E152° 45.235' and start walking up the break (Lepidozamia Road) for about 150m then trun right into a narrow footpad. Continue east along this track until around S27° 17.690' E152° 46.041' where is starts to head south towards GZ. You will pass an old logging winch and a small cairn signifying the route to a plane wreck from 1977. If also visiting the wreck it's about 8km return, allow 3 hours. An easy walk if dry. If wet you will need to prepare for leeches and mud. The Terrain rating of 3.5 is for when wet and also visiting the wreck.

Today's plan was a GC Event and to check out the geocaches near it. Also, I wanted to see what was left of a trig in that area. Geo-buddy Beardman75 suggested a trek up Mount D'Aguilar after the event and with no hesitation I said yes. It's an area that's been on my to-visit list for too long! I'm still jetlagged so with only two hours of sleep and this being my second hike of the day I was confident I would sleep very well later that evening haha. I'm not one to let trivial matters like sleep or inclement weather ruin an adventure! There was no concern about inclement weather today though, it was flawless! Nice and dry which resulted in a leech-free trek, nice! On the way up we stopped at an old logging relic, a large rusty steel winch then proceeded to the summit to discover this very old trig station. The cairn was in reasonable condition and so were the disks sitting on top of the cairn. The post perished long ago. We explored some more of the summit area then started our way back via the plane wreck. A sad story here. Only parts of the plane remain and it looks like they have been grouped together in the one location. The trek back was uneventful but pleasant. There's a lot more to discover in this beautiful part of the world so I'll definitely return. Thanks for the cache.
