Description

This is a TrigPoint Cache. There is no physical geocache container with a logbook or swap items relating to this cache here. To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the TrigPoint, along with your GPS receiver or your geocaching name on something or yourself.

E1 Borumba (B 833)

This trig site is on the summit of Mount Borumba in Imbil State Forest.

Original installation was in 1940, a brass plug set into concrete with an Eccentric mark (E1) and the usual reference marks. There is no description of the station above the mark but it was probably a timber quad like the one over the nearby Yabba Ck trig which was installed at the same time. The E1 mark is all that I could find remaining which is a 25mm square plug in drill hole in rock. The old referenced fire tower has been dismantled.

AHD (for E1) 623.5m

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Feeling good after the nearby Yabba Ck trig find I decided to continue to this one. I was lucky enough to be able to drive to it. All the tracks were in good condition and open. There's not much left up here. Even the old fire tower is gone. The only trig remains I could find was the square plug for E1 that was mentioned in the survey notes. After checking out the views it was time to get to camp. I have a big day of exploring tomorrow. I'm likely to arrive at camp in daylight hours, that's just weird haha.
Thanks for the cache Smile
