Description

This is a TrigPoint Cache. There is no physical geocache container with a logbook or swap items relating to this cache here. To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the TrigPoint, along with your GPS receiver or your geocaching name on something or yourself.

Noosa Hill (B 837)

Installed 1941. The trig was installed at the highest point of the headland. The ground mark is a brass rod in concrete about 1ft below the surface. No beacon erected. Three concrete reference points are visible. These are marked as A, B and C. A 'broad arrow' is also marked on each of the concrete reference blocks. See gallery. NOTE: The stone cairn at the summit has NOTHING to do with this trig installation.

-----

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

-----

Access: There are multiple routes to this trig. The easiest route is to park at S26 22.910 E153 05.913 then walk the tracks to the top of Noosa Hill. About 2.5 - 3km return, allow 1 hour.

After first checking out Mount Tinbeerwah it was time to meet dahumbug at the parking coordinates to explore Noosa Hill. A brief walk and we were at the summit. According to the survey notes the cairn is not part of the trig installation so it was mostly ignored. The brass mark was buried. We may or may not have tried to find it with a shovel Whistle Three reference marks were found. It's always great to find old 'broad arrow' markings Very Happy This was my last trig find on this northern adventure. There were a mixture of good and dull finds. There's a lot more to explore up here so I'll definitely be back! Thanks to dahumbug for joining me on some hunts and thanks for the cache Smile
