A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

The only man made item that we could see here was a steel post painted white.
There was no number plate, or other indicator that we could see. As well as this there is nothing else really here, just a spot on a gravel road that goes nowhere, with no real views or interesting structure, just dust and grass. Unless you are after numbers I would not recommend this one.

Out and about caching for the GeosportZ 2024 Games and needed a trig for one of the challenges.
Appears to be just a marker, pic has been added to the gallery.

Got to admit, I was expecting more. A white post trig it is!

A white post as a trig. not sure why that is so. TFTT

This dot on the map is the only thing I have in the area close to where the rellies live so I had to clear it off while visiting.

Not sure why they would have a trig point here and why it is only a post but it is close to the road. so, like others before me i am assuming that it is the trig point marker.

Headed out while in Bundaberg and soon found the leaning post. Interesting trig....certainly nothing else around apart from the rocks.

On my drive around the Coral Cove Area I saw this trig point showing up on the GPS less than a couple of kilometres away.
So I took the detour to see what was there to find along Hummock Road Smile
Now a hummock is a hill, isn't it Question
Well this must be one of the world's smallest hills Very Happy

At GZ I stepped out of the geomobile and found a white post that was bent over.
It probably is the only trace left of what was an important trigonometric reference point Cool

Worth a visit just for the atmosphere !!

Was on my way around Bundy when I saw this one. A Trig point I don't have to climb to? I'm there!! Well, as noted, not much to see, but we found it anyway.

Found at 1030. All there is to see is a red and white steel post and a lot of rocks and concrete.

Our second TP cache, and although we found the spot easily, the only man made item that we could see was the post that is pictured here.
