Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Camping was great, the track was a mess.
Driving to the top was great fun. Fantastic view.
This trip had been on my 'Wish List' for some years
The problem was Logistics
I had to get the timing right...…….So many Variables!
Weather
The best time of year is after winter to avoid the very worst of the cold and wet, and before the weather gets too hot in summer
We were very fortunate to get nice warm sunny days and mild nights with no rain, the track was mostly dry and the deep mud puddles could easily be skirted around on dry tracks
Company
I did not want to tackle the track on my own as my vehicle is not fully set up for hard core 4 wheel driving, no winch or high lift kit which would be advisable, especially after rain
Luckily I found a group of other geocachers who were planning to tackle the track and I quickly agreed to join in the group
Today was the day
After spending many hours the previous afternoon removing all my work tools and other stuff out of my vehicle and packing in all my camp gear, I was ready to go early in the morning
Stopping to fill up with fuel on my way out of town then continuing on to pick up my passenger Mistraluna
While we had discussed a rough plan of finding caches on the way to Hyden I was not prepared for the coming adventure that this day would prove to become
Luckily we had all day today and tomorrow to get to Hyden where we would meet up with the other members of our party
On the way we stopped to top up with fuel and headed for our first cache of the day
From the fuel station we drove east to Pinjarra then on Pinjarra - Williams road, through Dwellingup, continuing east until we reached the power line road just past East Boundary rd. We made a left turn here and started heading north
The road was quite good and I did not need to use 4 wheel drive
I was thrilled to see a great number and variety of wild flowers along the roadside which I had not seen before
Our journey continues
Day 4
Another early wake up for us this morning, we had had our breakfast and were completely packed up our campsite before some of the other travellers had even got out of bed.
I think some had enjoyed the drinks by the fire a bit too much the previous evening.
We help the others where we could to pack up as we were keen to get on the road again as there was another big day of driving ahead of us
Once we were all packed up the convoy was ready to set off once more
Mistraluna and myself actually took off a bit ahead of the other so we could stop and take photos along the way without holding up the convoy
We stopped for a photo at Wattle Rocks and continued on negotiating one muddy puddle after the other. We were fortunate that at the time we chose to drive the track it was relatively dry so we were easily able to drive around the worst of the mud holes
It was amazing to see how deep some of them were. If you were to drive into some while at its fullest you could easily submerge your vehicle
Along the way we enjoyed wonderful scenery and views of the countryside. The vegetation constantly changing and negotiating many more mud holes
We came to the intersection of the Holland track and the Marvel Loch Forrestania road and the track joins the road for a short distance then diverts once again with the track passing Mt Holland.
We stopped here and made the short walk up the rocky gravel track to the top of the hill to find a trig point at the top and wonderful 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside
We found the trig point to get photos of to log on GCA
so I kept to the gravel roads and headed for Mount Holland from Hyden way
This area has been scorched by a bushfire last summer,
so doesn't look as green as it could be !!
The trees are sprouting again though,
and in a couple of years it should be back to its woodland best
The trig point marker survived the blaze.
Rust is its enemy now.
And the occasional redneck with a shotgun
Good 360° views of nothing all around
TFTTP !!
