Description

TS 7088

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Found this one finally after almost 1 1/2 years of being unloved.
Pic taken from beyond a fence to avoid entering the property.

Picked up this one as I headed NW from WW to Hillston, via Narrandera and Griffith. Close enough to get a good shot.

After a big few days at work, I decided today on my day off that I would try to collect as many caches I could for the ‘Hidden Creatures Souvenir’ currently happening. This is because this is the last day to find caches towards it. I decided on the trail that goes: Temora – Wagga – Coolamon – Ganmain – Grong Grong – Ardlethan – Temora. I had planned a longer trail but I didn’t get away when I wanted to and because of the amount of sunlight left in the day. Sorry, but on some caches I became lazy and only wrote my cacher’s name and not the date. Thank you all cache owners for the caches I found, the fun I had and for the opportunity to discover these locations. Smile

First GCA find of the day. TFTT

#GA1813 - 10:25; Day one of a caching mission to Victoria with Sol de lune. We headed over to Coolamon then south through Jerilderie and Finley before heading west to Deniliquin and then on to Wanganella before heading back through Deni and on to Mathoura, Moama and then Echuca where the caching finished on dark. Grabbed a bite to eat on the way through Bendigo and on to Creswick, which will be home base for the week. Spotted this trig as we headed south along Millwood Road, so stopped and grabbed a couple of snaps on the way past for a long overdue *FTF* TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Off for a couple of days caching around Victoria with LuckyL10n and drove past trig. Not that far from the road and is easily spotted. Grabbed a couple of photos and were soon on our way again.

Thanks for another trig....
