Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Three years of no finds and now two on the same day! We had no idea where the trig was. Was it the big white thing at the front of the tank? We included as much as possible in the pic in the hope we got it.

While on our recent trip to Western Australia we located this trig point, a nice drive by in town. While tidying up Novembers files we noticed that we had some GCA cache finds that we had yet to log. They are mainly trigs, virtuals and history cache that require photos to be added. This trig was one of them.

The required photos have been added to the log.

Inside a fence first for us

It was busy here with the annual show on but we managed to snap a pic of the area.

We decided to get away for an overnight road trip and Busselton was the place that we headed for. We meandered along our planned route picking up both GC and GCA caches as well as Waymarks and Sighters. We were having a blast tripping around this wonderful part of the State. This cache was one we grabbed on our travels. Cheers and TFTC.

Found the trig point while on a recent trip down south. Finally catching up on some logs that had been missed. Nice easy location in the middle of town, no climbing hills for this one, just a quick drive by. I did not find the actual trig point as its located in a locked compound. However I took the required photo to prove I was in the area.

Like everyone else has said this one is behind a fence.
So like most others I followed instructions and took a photo to prove I’ve been here

This TP is behind the fence.

10-Nov-17
Found on the way out of Busselton

02-Mar-17
Behind locked gate of Busselton Water. Took photo though.

16-Jan-16
Found it. It looks very much like a survey marker. Except it is in a secure compound belonging to the Water Corporation.

29-Dec-15
On private property "Bussleton Water"
GZ my guess is nothing remains of original trig point marker.

27-Dec-15
Not really sure what the trig point is, but I have a picture of something, which is all that really matters I guess.

27-Dec-15
Not quite sure where the trip point is, but at some 3000km from home, I'm going to take a picture of anything. I suspect the marker is where the concrete pad is now located.

24-Oct-15
Was driving around with bubbabear and got a photo of the trig. Lots of work going on here. Hard to see the trig.

29-Sep-15
Couldn't get right up to this one because it is behind a fence.

04-Aug-15
What looks like the base of the pillar is at the coords but hard to tell. Certainly no veins and this could almost go but there are so few trigs around here I was happy to visit.

29-Sep-14
Spotted while down in Busselton for the long weekend. TFTC.

02-Aug-14
Woohoo, another trig point, I don't get to find very many of these. This one unfortunately is within WaterCorp fenced off land, but I took a photo through the fence.

Thanks for the Trig!

28-Dec-13
Could not see the TP through the fence, attached a photo.

28-Jul-13
Down in Busselton for an event. On my drive around I came past here. Like others, I did the best I could

Cheers Cool

I'm not sure the trig plate is still there but I've attached a picture of the area.

11-Feb-13
Down here for a nice weekend, and gaining a TP just adds to the fun

03-Sep-12
Found on my way to squash, on a very wet night. Can only get this close as it is behind a high fence. Anxious

27-Jun-12
We guess the water tower is it but we're not sure. Anyway this was the closest we could get. Thanks.

11-Dec-11
Found but apparently forgot to log it so here it is, 2TF. Will add photo later when Mr M gets home. TFTC.

I dont think this trig point exists.
There is a big tank at GZ with pointy stucture on top but I believe that is just a chimney/vent.
Im no expert on these things so just a note for now.

FTF: Found this Trig Point (the blue pillar) whilst doing caching the nearby area in Busselton. The blue pillar (in the pics) is at 14 metres from where I stand behind the fence. It’s next to Water Tank on Government property.
