Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Cheers,
The Hancock Clan
Was up this way today chasing a GC multi, so grabbed the trig as well. I'd never been up here before, so I did enjoy the views on a nice sunny day.
JABs.
Having read sirius's note I picked what I thought was a good spot and took a photo.
Thanks GCA !
Took a picture of the GPS where it should be though.
"A mast and navigation light centred over the mark ST 76 was destroyed in November 2005. The mark ST 76 was also destroyed at this time.
The mast supporting the existing navigation light is not coordinated. Neither is the light which is not located at the centre of the mast structure. The two most prominent masts , ST76MWT and ST76 have been coordinated for use as a reference object.
NOTE: A Site Summary for this station will probably display duplicate coordinates for ST76RT and ST76RM6. To obtain the correct coordinates for these towers view Mark Summaries for each tower."
I'm sure that being at the Navigation tower would suffice for the point of exercise...as it is co-ordinated for use as a reference objects.
IF you guys have any doubts as to a TRIGS veracity....GO TO...

Then use manage layers button...click on Administrative
under Topographic Information....click on Infrastructure...highlight Survey Control....then Arrow Right should see it appear in R/H column
GOTO Apply.....ST76 should appear on map...click on "i" ICON L/H side of screen...now highlight ST76 on map....info bar at bottom will give out latest information...sometimes with photos.
Hope the above helps....any troubles...please drop a line...have fun...Cheers.
BTW.....NOT ALL TIRG markers are the traditional quad beacon...some will be towers as above, others lighthouses, rock cairns etc.
If you're not sure what's there...check LIST before you go.
