Description

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Clarinda

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

I am on my way home after a three day trip stretching from the Victorian border in the south to Nyngan in the north. I have managed to collect caches in missing DZs and LGAs. There are just two more that I can find on my way. This is one of them and an easy find as I passed through town. TFTT Geocaching Australia. Very HappyVery HappyClan CerberusClan Cerberus

Got up at dawn to track down some trigs and a few caches in Parkes before the crew surfaced. Found this one at 6.52am. Drove around a little to see if I could find a way up. Eventually saw the gate on the Newell Highway to the east of the trig ~120m. This trig in very good condish with everything in place including the nameplate. A lovely morning on top of the hill. TFTC.

Another trig point to our finds. TFTT

#GA1658 - 08:25; ay 31 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune, albida33 and fitzy_1965, our last! Today was the run home from Parkes to Canberra. Sdl and I were headed home from Parkes via Forbes, Grenfell, Young, Boorowa and Yass, while a33 and f65 planned a more direct route via Cowra. This was the last stop in Parkes before heading south for f65 and I to grab this trig as the others had been here before. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1484. Found during Day 21 of my epic 21 day visit to Alice Springs for the Red Centre Experience Event and further travels after that.

Flew into Alice Springs and met up with my fellow intrepid team members Sol de Lune, Albida33 and LuckyL10n for the start of an amazing trip throughout the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales and eventually back to Canberra. The Red Centre Experience is the main attraction of course, but also on our agenda are a lot of GC Caches, lots of trigs, as well as plenty of GCA Trads, History and Virtual Caches (and maybe the odd beer or two ??!! Smile. Go Clan Cerberus !

Another trig for the trip. We were now heading south and east again and nearly home, and we managed to get to this trig. Photo taken. Then it was back in the car and off to the next one !

Another trig added to the dragonZone list. I really enjoy finding trigs and also the new CORS that are popping up everywhere !

TFTC !!

A terrible photo taken looking in to the sun. Thanks, an easy trig to spot but impossible to get too close to.

22-Apr-16
Found it, good view from the main road. I did have a photo for this TP, but annoyingly I accidentally Crying or Very sad deleted a whole heap of photos of my phone which I am trying to recover, painstakingly. If I can recover the photos I will upload it.

i nice little stop was not sure about going in the farmers pad but so i got it from the road

Found on a geocaching trip to Forbes today. Looking at the logs I saw they walked up there so I drove around the back and found a very locked fence - I don't think they want anyone entering.

Snapped on our way through Parkes.

South Australia 2013 with Sol de Lune. We headed off on 12/4 and arrived home on 28/4. The trip was to visit the SA series so more time could be spent at the Mega itself next year. We did a huge variety of caching around Murray Bridge, the Mid North, Yorke Peninsula and Whyalla Region. Apart from one wet night and two wet days we were able to spend heaps of time caching.

One of Plenty of trigs we saw on this trip. I hope I get the right picture on each trig.

Thanks.
Albida

One of many many trigs found by Albida and myself while on our 2 week trip to, and around South Austrlia.

Thanks for yet another trig.....we managed just over 30 for the trip.

Found while caching in Parkes

15-May-11
I have probably driven this road no less than 50 times in the last 15 years and this is the first time I have noticed this trig. Amazing what you see when you look

29-Aug-10
Found with McPhan.

29-Aug-10
The highest point in Parkes and barely a sweat to claim this one. The best thing was the family of plovers - two tiny babies and two aggressive/protective parents trying to bluff the Adventra. That's dedication.

TFTC and the goober.

15-Apr-10
Found the site quickly enough and took a long distance photo with my phone camera. Trig point did not turn out real well. Had a look at the gate at the end of the track and it was not locked and there were no signs prohibiting entry. Track in is very well used and there are several radio repeaters up here as well as a Telstra so I drove in. Plaque on trip mount actually says Clarinda Trig. Wonderful views of Parkes from here TFTC
