Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Thanks for the Trig. (sorry for the late log)
Very interesting history and gorgeous views.
Firstly, it was to be my 500th "GA" cache find which had to be a challenge of some type. To my mind, it was the best cache that I completed today as I had to walk 381 metres up hill for 1.2km which would have expanded to more than the 1.2km as the crow flies. LOVED IT!!
I've now done both Mount Directions; the one down south and this one; and to my surprise both trigs were of the stone cairn type. Co-incidence, I wonder? Obviously that's what the surveyers did at that time.
The track into this cache is very good, a gentle rise to the top with seats all along the way if you need a rest. Wish I could say that I hadn't have to rest on the way, but I can't say that in all honesty.
The laughing of the kookaburra on the way in and out was very pleasant. They shouldn't have laughed at me so much just because I seemed to struggle on the way up.
At the summit it was a pleasant surprise to see more than a trig marker. The ruins and the signal post made the walk even more rewarding.
I logged the cache at 1730hrs and was back at the car by 1803hrs. Passed another walker and his two dogs on the way out.
I found myself wondering if it is harder on the legs on the way in or on the way out? But you've already pounded them hard on the way in and may-be just may-be that's why they feel so heavy on the way out!
Loved the cache and the great views that are available going both ways.
Recommend this cache to all cachers.
TFTC, my 500th "GA" find and the good feeling I had on its completion:
Cheers OldSaint.
Five mins into the walk I felt way worse but I figured I should push on and hope I come right.... and I did
Once at the top I felt like a new man (well woman) and the cool breeze & awesome views made me completely forget about the night before
