Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Finally got this cache and thanks to old saint for the inspiration. This trig is part of Oldsaint challenge cache. So I thought I better get it.
Stopped at the gate and rode up to the trig. Well kind off. Had to stop at three different spots as my legs simply are not strong enough.
1 Hour 50 minutes drive to Gate
33 minutes from parking spot to trig. Quite a while taking all sorts of photos around the trig and stunning views and then 12 minutes back to the car. Flew past one 5 foot tiger snake crossing the road but otherwise no wife life spotted. Now 1 hour 50 minute drive home!!!!!
360 views were wonderful!
Had checked out the access on a previous visit to the lakes and decided to come back with the geobike.
Mr T braved the snow and enjoyed the unique trig and views.
Got to the boom gate and thought: "Self, do you want to do this" Self answered "Yes!" So the climb was on!!
Walking the road, thoughts of bush bashing enter head but not for long - Think I would still be walking!!
Stuck to the road and arrived at GZ to find a worker there. We exchanged pleasantries and I walked on to the Trig.
Taking the necessary pics and the bugger drove off - was hoping for a ride back to the car - missed by that much.
The walk back was faster than that up, but it always is when it's down hill.
What a spot and the views are tremendous.
Sainted the Trig at 1540hrs. Round trip, including pics, was about 1hrs and twenty minutes. Forty mins up, pic time and shorter walking time back - not a real hard walk but enjoyable.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.
I was on my way to find another trig point and couldnt resist the temptation to find this one on the way.
Great views on a lovely afternoon.
Found at 1:48:44 PM
TFTC
The walking time is only about an hour but I found the overall time away from the car is considerably more because the views are impossible to leave.
Sheltering from the wind in the fire tower was very nice. The views in every direction gave a good perspective of distance to other mountain tops and lakes. Throughly enjoyed this one.
For future finders:
Park at the locked boom gate and continue along the road until you see the turn up the hill. Approx 500 metres
We are so glad we did! What an unusual little trig this one was with the little room under the actual trig itself.
The views just went around and around and wherever you looked it was beautiful! Took lots of pictures before we left. TFTT. (Thankyou for the trig).
Just a little snow up here today and Nick was kind enough to take photos whilst the cold wind chilled us. A great 360 degree view that rates in my top 10.
