Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Yes it is an easy find - especially if you put the correct coordinates in your GPS. All good now as I reached my desired destination for the day in time to grab one last GCA traditional as the light was failing. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyVery HappyClan CerberusClan Cerberus

Well it took me 2 and a half years to see my error with this one...all I have to do is log this one at the original find date and photo, and hope that no one notices as I archive the one I named after the SIXmaps reference TS 6215 NM. Phew! This could have been embarrassing.

As mentioned by others, this trig point is very hard to miss and extremely easy to access. The required photo has been added to the Gallery. Thanks for the cache.

#GA1985 - 16:00; Day six of a caching mission around western Victoria with Sol de lune and we were now headed for home. The plan for today was to head north through Central Goldfields and on to Castlemaine, Bendigo, Shepparton, Cobram and Yarrawonga before crossing the border into Mulwala and then on to Rand, Lockhart then home. After collecting a few caches around Bendigo, Shepparton and then Cobram, we had now crossed the river back into NSW. A quick stop in Mulwala, then on to take some snaps of this trig on the way through towards Rand. Certainly no problems finding this one! TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Heading towards home after 5 days roaming around Victoria with LuckyL10n and stopped by to check this one. No problems at all when the trig is right on the side of the road.

Photo was snapped and we were off to a CORs just down the road.

Thanks for another trig....

Just driving along, when I caught the unmistakable outline of a trig in the corner of me eye Shocked
I checked the GPS display .... and it was showing up there too !!

A quick 'U-turn' and I hopped out for the photo opportunity.

Literally a drive-by. Dancing We went looking for the other two of this series but they are well within private farming land and inaccessible.
