Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

We were in town for the Highland Gathering and decided to take a break for some fish and chips at this great lookout. Nab a cache or two and this Trig point at the same time, so all in all a successful time.

Trignis in decent enough nick considering how accessible to the public it is.

Thanks for the trig point listing.

I am in Yamba this weekend for an end of year work function staying at Angourie Resort which is lovely. We have the day free so I am going caching. The Maclean Trig is my fifth cache today. The view is amazing about 180 degrees. I commune with the bird life for a while. There is a 'pecking order' with kookaburras on top, magpies next a lone chicken, then other birds Thanks for the Trig GA

On a Trig hunting mini road trip south of the Sunshine State and decided to visit this one. Very busy here today. It took a while for me to be able to get a decent image without muggles interrupting my good times haha. Thanks for the cache Smile

#GA2743 - 15:05; Day five of the 2018 Oz GeoMuster mission with Sol de lune. After a night in Ballina, the plan for today was to cache northward through Ballina to Byron Bay and then on to Kingscliff before turning south for home through Bangalow, Evans Head, New Italy, Yamba, Maclean and on to Kempsey for another overnight stay. After an early start, we hadn't gone far up the road when we saw evidence of a heavy shower not too long before we got there, so we seem to have dodged a bullet and got packed up with fairly dry gear. Following a successful run through to Cape Byron, we continued our journey along some interesting and at times rather rough roads before getting to the highway and on to Brunswick Heads then Kingscliff. Another hiccup after we started the trek south again when we missed the turn off into Bangalow due to older maps and newer roads. Didn't have any problems finding our way in to Yamba though, despite all the roadworks on the highway. After our tour of Yamba we headed in to Maclean for our last stop for the day. After looking for a non-existent street, we finally made it to the top of the hill to grab our snaps of this trig. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Day 5 of the trip up the NSW coast with LuckyL10n after the Morisset event. Today was from Ballina to Kingscliff and back to Kempsey. A few more caches grabbed, with most being trigs...

No problems spotting this one and the required photo was soon in the bag.

Thanks for yet another trig...

There was quite dense fog on the river as we left the motel this morning and headed for the Maclean Trig Point. When we arrived there was no fog at this height but there wasn't much to see because all the low areas were shrouded in fog. The Trig Point was a quick find. The required photo was taken and has been added to the Gallery. Thanks Geocaching Australia for the cache.

I think that I may have become be addicted to trig points Shocked
There I was driving up the hill to the lookout to find a geocache when a familiar black and white shape caught my eye.
Suddenly it was out with the long list of trig point cache notes to see if this particular geodesic delight was on the list yet !!
Eureka !! There it is Cool

This trig has a great outlook across the countryside to the Pacific Ocean.
I reckon if you squint hard enough you can see New Zealand from here Wink

Now where was I ?
Oh yeah !! I was up here to find a run of the mill 'normal' geocache Razz

And now for a gratuitous Gnomette smilie (because this site doesn't have a trig point smilie yet !! )

I'm a Laaaaaaaady, duh!
