Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Attached photo of cairn and Standard Survey Mark
Whilst proceeding the long way from Yoting - Kellerberrin rd car park came accross a grave next to an old church. Grave was Lizzie Dec 1907
Also met the farmer along the way who said to go along fire break to the NE corner and then proceed up the ridge to the top.
Take a rock with you to put on cairn and make a wish and it may come true.
I will have to look out for anymore of these Standard Survey Marks, Cairns etc.
It was only about 24 degree s so a cool walk up the hill.
Being mid-week, my geo-buddies were unavailable to assist until Saturday; but one suggested I contact iLuvTrekking (who own 4x4), which I then do. After explaining my predicament, they considered and called me back with the offer I could not refuse - let's go rescue your car now! So short time later we're off on day trip adventure to Quairading Shire! What great friends and angels.
Sadly we discovered Quairading town has many closed shops, the pub looked empty, and the only roadhouse sells rubbish, a simple sausage roll seemed our best option to tide us over. So be advised, BYO lunch if stopping this way.
After rescuing my car, we couldn't go past this nearby Trig, particularly with opportunity to claim FTF. After inspecting terrain to the east, I point out another option of long driveway across private property, going west and north, but question if acceptable. Chris confidently suggests most farmers are friendly and was good idea; so I leave my car, jump in their's, and we head off towards farm house. Upon arrival are greeted by caretaker Jim and friendly dog Isabella who, after some conversation, invite up to park on his property, now just 700m from GZ. Walking up the giant rock we pass evidence of rabbit & echidna, confront minimal bush bash, and enjoy a stunning view. The stone structure and survey marker easily sighted once on top.
Once back down we share a cold beer with Jim as a thank you for his hospitality.
Later we stop for dinner at Ettamogah Pub, Cunderdin, on route back home to Perth. A great day!!
Geocaching protocols advise us to reach GZ without entering private property (unless invited), thus hypocritically suggest you follow this. However, should you insist on visiting Jim, remember he enjoys a cold beer, and his dog a good back scratch; with road access: S31°50.135' E117°35.484'
