Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Spent the night in Corowa prior to travelling around the area with Happy Pants as we detour via some places I haven't been for years - if ever.
Does it get any better than travelling this great land of ours? Coffee, caches, photographs and company. Dancing
What a beautiful area to take a stroll (and quite a few photos) - the amazing colours, the natural beauty.
The geocaches are a great bonus of my day out. Thank you for this cache here.
It’s amazing to see the country in the eyes of a Geocacher.

Thanks for TP, for bringing us here and highlighting this area. Clapping

On the way home and last few caches today.

A relaxing walk up. I left the car at the main gate, as 300 metres is not justification for opening a big gate, then closing it...then opening it again and closing it again...and all the in and out of the car in between...

Definitely will return here. It was raining lightly and it was dark, approx 09:30 pm, but it even felt like a wonderful spot. Lots of fun navigating solo in the dark to this one.

On me geocache guided tour of the area today, I was taken to a cache that was very close to this trig point Very Happy
(refer to GC2B6YT for how to get to this trig point)

After a stroll through a crop and a couple of gates, I climbed up the granite rocks to reach the trig.
Very slippery in the rain Shocked
But the view from here is spectacular.
An expanse of pristine bushland, surrounded by fields of wheat and canola.

Found by baby&Mrs gopher, found in company with Farmer's5.A photo was taken of the Farmer then the batteries went flat in the camera Embarassed .This is an easy Trig to access as the rock formation is an easy walk to the site. After going through the 2nd gate the rock is angled to the Trig but mostly flat.

Discovered this relatively unknown area quite by chance on the weekend. This was known to the Queens Mum & Dad but not to her (& she was supposed to be a local). So we had to go and have a look and whilst at it, do what all good cachers do, place a cache! This area now has double the appeal for future visitors.

I like a cache where you can spot GZ from a distance Smile
