Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

On route to Narribri and this was our first trig find along this highway.
Thanks for the cache Smile

Heading homeward, aka east, after a trip out to the One Ton Post and Lightning Ridge. Lots of trigs both published abs unpublished on GCA to find today. It was hot and the weeds god-awful, but the hunting for treasure was fun.

This is one of many found today.

We're driving up to Lightning Ridge today, making a 4hr drive into 8hr of course with 18 caches - 13 GCA and 5 GC.... We had great caching conditions today, temps to 22 degrees even, and dry (for once!).
Unusual trigs these 'Walgett' trigs! I bashed in 25m or so to find this one, the grass is getting pretty high.... go in on the Narrabri side of the rusty wreckage....

We are currently staying at Narrabri and the lure of a trig trail resulted in a 500klm round trip today. Required pic has been added to the gallery.

Many thanks Geocaching Australia for publishing this trig and adding to our geocaching experience.

The Kamilaroi Highway from Bourke to Wee Waa is a trig hunters dream. Even starting from Walgett (where we joined the highway) there's five trigs close to the road. Not the usual plinth and vanes.... no nothing so fancy here, just the cement and pipe version. Glad we found that out with this one otherwise we might not have recognised a couple. With the last log being 30-7-13, that's almost six years since the last find. Shocked

Changing the trig point name from "College Green Homestead Area", to "NM C 068", per name from Department of Lands, for TS3502.

30-Jul-13
Found on the way north on our 2013 winter escape trip to Qld.
A few stops for trigs helps to break up the drive.
Thanks for the cache/trig,
Roostaman.

An easy find travelling from Narrabri to Walgett.

One of the many trigs between Walgett and Narrabri. These are different to the ones that we have found previously. They have a peg on the ground but no standard concrete plinth or tower.
