Description

Walbundrie TS 4563 - A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Due to being ‘Picnic Day’ at work, I had a day off in hand. I of course decided on going geocaching. I headed off to Walla Walla to finish the 7 Days a Week series because I have finally finished solving them. I also found some lone caches along the back roads on the way back to Wagga. It was a great day finding many different caches and in some very unique spots, including places I would never have visited if it wasn’t for these caches. It is also great to see Joelisa active again. TB visit on all caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found for allowing them to bring me and the rest of the geocaching community enjoyment. TFTC’s, TFTE’s, TFTLC’s and TFTTP’s. Big Grin Unlike last visit, I was able to find the entry point. After a up hill walk, I found myself at GZ and mesmerized by the great looking Trig. A quick photo later and I was soon back at my car. Now off to the next one. Big Grin

After a failed mission to come to Walla Walla last week, I found myself with a full day off today to come today. I have been planning to do the ‘4.5 Tree Climb Trail’ for quite some time and collect the pre-solved puzzles located within the town limits. It was full of finds, DNF’s, lunch and conversations with the people I met along the way. I also loved the great locations I visited today. After finishing caching in Walla, I headed north to collect the lone caches around the back roads which lead to lots of backtrack driving. With all this driving I found myself with almost 600kms making it my biggest distant caching day I have ever yet. TB visit on all found caches. On some of the smaller log sheets/books I signed as 5/9 JM. I would like to thank all CO’s for the caches I found, the locations I visited and for the fun I had today. Big Grin
Today’s totals:
24 Finds (20 Groundspeak and 3 GCA)
3 DNF’s

I could not find my way into this one. Sad

1715 After getting the Chook Raffle cache nearby I thought I have a go at this. Jumped a fence and headed up past some nice granite outcrops. The trig is in good condition. A wooden pole with the black vanes on top, but what was unusual was the wire guys to four corners. Seemed to be GREAT coordinates. Took a couple of photos.
