Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.
BTW: There is a GC.com Cache Less the 50 Metres from this Trig Point. So i recon that it's a 2 For the price of 1. And The Guy on the Fire watch tower knows about the cache.

But there was a trig point up here! Found it at 1600, Friday, a steel pipe quadrapod, common in Victoria, with black semi-circular vanes. Though unlike the ones in NSW, these don't have holes punched in them.
Reading the logs we were a little uncertain whether this cache was accessible in a 2WD car. So, whilst we were in the area we decided to take a look. We were pleasantly surprised that there was a reasonable gravel road to within about 100m of the cache and we could have driven to the cache if we had been in our of our cars and not a hire car. We are not sure what the road would be like in wet weather but today, with a dry surface, it was an easy drive. We walked the last 100m and, after skirting around the communications towers, we came to the trig point, somewhat dwarfed by the towers around it. After taking the requred photos, we took time to take in the magnificent views from this vantage point. TFTC
TFTC and the everybody loves.
Having headed up Mt Raymond for the GC cache up there, I had a fair idea that there would be a trig point too and a quick glance revealed it. It's a fantastic spot to take in the views and it's great to get a couple of caches there at the same time.
Yep, views are amazing. worth the detour. A 2WD will make it easy. A little corrugated but you will make it.
Found this one on yet another one of those work trips into this area & i also found the nearby CG.com cache as well.
The Views from GZ are to die for on a good day you can see for miles in all directions.
Thanks for the cache & hunt - will add photo shortly
