Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Thanks Geocaching Australia.
As we had found most dragonzone caches in Wangaratta pre dragone zone we spent some time researching the trig points we hadn't found and identified the Mt Killawarra trig as the easiest to reach when we had limited time. Today was the day to attempt this short hike.
We took Robmc's advice about starting from the coordinates supplied by Muzza for his cache Kill a What? near by. It was raining quite heavily as we set off and the rain continued for the entire walk. We had the reserve to ourselves and enjoyed the walk go the trig point along the fire trail, just us, the small birds and the rain. The walk was up a gently track with only one steepish section towards the end. We reached the top after about 15 minutes and spotted the trig beacon - typical trig metal tripod with black vanes. We attempted to clean up the disc in the centre but the rain made it impossible to distinguish the inscription.
After taking the required photos we headed off to look for the nearby Muzza cache Kill A What? There were no views from here today due to the rain and low cloud.
We were very surprised that this cache has only had three visits since it was listed in 2009. We hope that 2 visits in 2017 will be the start of more visits.
Our photo has been added to the gallery
This gives us a dragon zone cache find in Wangaratta and reduces the number of zones needed to six.
Thanks for the TP Geocaching Australia
Wonderful views from here, the last high point on this range.
Spring vegetation colourful on this glorious morning.
In his description he lists the starting location for the walk. Use this, as if you try the shorter walks from other points on surrounding roads, you may find you're in for a difficult walk.
The walk as listed is along a well made track and no steep hills.
Great view at the top.
Thanks, Robmc.
