Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Using IF's Geocaching way points, i made my way to the peak. Amazing views and a TP that has only been found twice before me since 2009
TFTTP
the last few days, in the Hamersley Ranges.
All I have seen since I left Karratha has been rain and mist !!
Not your typical 'dry season' stuff at all
But it is the mud that has been the worst part.
Many of the side tracks to caches were a bit squishy to drive.
And climbing to many of the trig points was going to be a wet and slippery affair.
(Not unlike Queensland)
Yesterday had been promised to be mostly sunny
It was a foggy and drizzly morning and the sun finally made an appearance around noon
So for the first time in ages, I could see blue skies and stars at night.
This morning dawned bright, with little puffy clouds in a blue sky
And it was only a short drive from last nights campsite to the turnoff the highway that would take me to the start of the walk up Mount Newman.
The track to the carpark proved to be not muddy, due to much of the rain not making it this far east.
Some steepish rocky sections provided some entertainment, but hardly white knuckle stuff
With the geomobile abandoned, I set off on boots.
Don't wear thongs for this climb
The first 400 metres are a killer, as you gain 100 metres of elevation straight up the hillside
Then the going gets a bit easier as you head up to the top of the ridgeline for a pleasant amble above the scenery
A fun trig point, with a simply spectacular views in every direction.
But wander around a bit to see more of the views
The stroll back down to the geomobile park is an ankle breaker too !!
Don't rush or you will end up on your backside !!
A brilliant TP chase ... one of the best
