A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

I came from 300m+ below on a well worn track. I appreciated the exercise required to get up here at my age...and the reward of a trig is always a good thing. It has been eight years since this one has been found.

On a run westward on a trig and cache seek with rogerw3.

A good drive along a muddied Bulgas Lane and a park at the pine forest - even with a long view within these forests are spooky - and then a three hundred or so metres trek up a sharply inclined wet track. The trig was sighted up a corridor through the gum trees and found in good condition with vanes, mast and name plate intact. The remnant of the old stone cairn lay metres away.

Found today with whitemushroom on our tour of Orange Area.

In great condition complete with name Plaque, the remains of the old cairn are adjacent to the new concrete pedestal.

Drove to Bulga Reserve, then just a 300 m or so walk up a 4WD/walking track to the trig. Interestingly name on trig is "Ophir"
