Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

I get back to the van after a Trig find and realise I had more time before work than I estimated. I knew there was a Trig on route to work so here I am.. Image taken.

There’s an old GC multi-cache that starts in a Pioneer Cemetery very close to here.. I’m sure I have time for a quick look. I find old cemeteries interesting locations to visit..

I travelled south from Dayboro Mega event with Isopeda to grab some more zones and this was one that would fulfill that aim. TFTT Geocaching Australia. Clan Cerberus

Having found all the GA caches closest to home I decided to cross the river and try my luck on the darkside Razz
After finding a few traditionals in the area, this was my next stop. I couldn't spot the Trig but made sure to take a photo of the tower.

Thanks for the Trigpoint Geocaching Australia Very Happy

#GA3603 - 10:50; Day 5 of the tour de South East Queensland with Sol de lune as we wrap up our caching and get ready to head for home tonight. An early morning change of plans saw us head south through the picturesque countryside from Beaudesert to Woodenbong which enabled us to claim a find in Kyogle dragonzone, before heading back to Logan to continue our mission there. Found a convenient spot at the end of the driveway to grab a snap of this trig before heading off to try for Queenslands oldest active GC cache. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

We don't know which part of this is the trig so we did what everyone else does, took a pic of the top of the water tank. If the trig is on the ground behind it, it's impossible to see from any angles we tried.

This trig is our closest to home. stopped by to locate the trig. TFTC

I needed to drive to the airport for a week away for work so i made a slight detour to grab a couple iof caches and this trig. There were heaps of cars about from a party in one of the nearby houses and a muggle was walking around trying to catch pokemon but i managed to grab a photo even though i did not see the usual disc

I never knew this trig point existed until last week. I purchased a Garmin Nuvi which has been great. One morning I was driving to work along Juers St and I saw the icon on the screen. "What is that?" I wondered. It turned out to be this trig point.

Today at lunch time I decided to pay it a visit. The Nuvi took me right to the driveway and I drove up it as far as the locked gate. I was on the phone to the wife at the time and anyway didn't see the point of getting out of the car as I couldn't go any further. So I took a photo before reversing back down the steep driveway and heading off in search of another cache.

We've lived next door to here since late February. After finding 8 unique cache types at the Logan CITO event we decided to claim this one today. There is a steep driveway with a fence blocking access but the tower is still visible from the fence and our backyard.

Passing the area today and dropped by.

A steep driveway led to the tower. I couldn't see a trig on the top but then the angle of view is acute.
