Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Chwiliwr and I went for a long hot drive out into the wheatbelt today to pick up some moveable caches, a few trigs and a couple of traditional GCA caches. There was a couple of GC caches in their as well. This was one of them.

I got out and saw where the trig was located and then got back into the car whilst Chwiliwr took the required image.

Thanks for the cache.

The better half and I went for a drive in the wheatbelt doing mainly GCA caches.

After cutting short our planned list of caches as it was too hot to stay out even if most of the trip was with air conditioning whilst we were driving.

Neither the tablet or the GPS would show more than a few kilometres of minor roads at a time so by the time we got across to the Mogumber Road we were south of where I had planned to be so diverted over to this trig as it was one that I had not done before.

Required image was taken whilst the better half stayed in the air conditioning and will be attached once I get it off the tablet.

Thanks for the cache.

Crossed over the Moore River getting to this one and it had the most water we've seen in a river for a long time.
We decided not to do this one if it was a dirt road but how lucky were we that it was bitumen right to the trig point and then changed to dirt.
Noticed the diamond marker from below and then got a run up and made it up the bank to GZ. Very grateful that a recent finder had cleared the area and exposed the disc here.
Thanks.

Heading home after our long weekend in Moora. Didn't have time to grab this one on the way up as running short of time.

An easy find of the trig point thanks to ROSS1957's clearing of the site
