Description
Kiama TS5622
Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Kiama.
Serial number is: TS5622.
Last Inspected on: December 19, 1983.
Elevation is: 24 metres.
Right next to one of the South Coast's best known attraction, the Kiama Blowhole, this Trig is well worth the visit for the scenery alone.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

The blowhole was not working too well today.
Thanks for the cache.
Wasn't blowing too much when we got there but after a nice lunch we returned and then saw some pretty good action.
Parked right next to this one so didn't have to go too far.

Easy to find - 0930. And no tourists around it, but rather they were down at the blowhole.
Thanks for featuring this trig.
Cheers

This is my first Geocaching find. Funny thing is that I have been coming to this area for over 15 years. Very nice spot. To top it off, there was a whale and calf playing in the water about 500m off the coast just after logging this Trig. What a prize! Geocaching and this Trig have been right under my nose for so long...
