Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Also, here's a sunrise trig compilation for you from this morning.
The inlet, the beaches, the breakwall, and the ocean all tried convincing me to stay here for a couple of days. They did that, but not right now. I'll be back to explore this area more another time. It all looked so fascinating.
The old style trig was a pretty cool find, but had me wondering how many times the vanes had been replaced as surely they'd rust out pretty quick up here.
After a couple of happy snaps with the trig it was on the the mini cemetery to see what the deal was with it. Having no signage around it explaining its location or residents, I got up the GC app hoping to find an answer there... and discovered there was a cache at the trig. So back to the trig I went and added my name to the scroll. No info on the cemetery with that cache though.
Next I moved on to check out time capsule cairn. Thankfully it had information about the fact that the graves were from the folks stationed up here guiding vessels through. It also had info on the two fellas who drowned together buried up here. My questions were answered.
My appetite decided it was lunch time already so I stopped at the general store on my way back to the M1. Un-fun fact: a small bottle of water and 1 avocado cost over $6 here. Sheesh!
I had considered going to see a tall pine tree(?) at Old Bar next but instead chose to just get back on the M1 and follow it all the way down to Shellharbour.
In summary, this location is pretty cool and definitely worth revisiting for longer.
Grabbed the GC cache at the trig while here too.
Do Trig Points get any better, or easier, than this ?
I don't think so
TFTTP.
After finishing the Power trail we did a run around finding some bonus caches. Heading down the highway we stopped here for a quick find - two for one !!
TFTC !!
Thanks for the trig...
Lovely views from here today.

There is a cache right here at this trig. Right in the rock pile.
