Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Photo is a panorama view taken from under the trig point. looking across to the Tuggeranong town area, taken at dusk. Beats than another boring old trig photo.
it was chilly and the hill is a little exposed so we were glad to head back to our car. There is a nice view of the surrounding area from this point.
Not logged for almost a year, so just had to venture up, admire the views, grab a cache, and then went for a pleasant stroll around the lake.
thanx for having trigs as loggables
I have been here several times.
It is about time that I brought a camera with me.
The weird thing about trigs is that they are often don't share the name of the hill that they are on. This trig is called "Tuggeranong"
Tuggeranong Hill has a trig called "TG 84"
Included is a section form my copy of the 1912 parish map.
Great view over Tuggeranong Lake
I remember this trig found while doing a nearby Multi on 16 May 2008 - great views !!
TFTC !!
no seriously. this grass is pretty much taller than me. what could go wrong? oh god oh god oh god. Tams, please mow/backburn the grass. Please..
parked at what i thought would be the best way to get up there, then thought "...yep, maybe i'll take the long way.." and ran around the other way.
Found a load of lizards around the place as well! Good thing i did choose the path! :S
TFTT and the brahman.
From now on, I will definitely be carrying a camera at every trig point I visit. I really support the introduction of TrigPoint "caches" because there are usually great views from such highpoints and it is particularly applicable in certain parks.
When I first started caching, I often didn't carry a camera, and visited many trigs whilst caching.
However, whether the thought police like it or not, I intend to claim every trig that I visited since starting caching at the beginning of 2007. As evidence, I will either post the photo if I have one, or reference the cache that I visited nearby, or name another cacher who can vouch for me being there.
I own the "Oxley Rock Hopping" geocache on the same hilltop, and have been to this trig many times.
2009-10-17 Popped by to check on my nearby cache, and decided to get a photo for this trigpoint
