Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

A last minute(ish) decision had me at this wonderful trig today with fellow geo-adventurer Davinells. I had heard more than one person mention this was the new-Uluru. I had even read it in an online article. I guess with Uluru being TEMPORARILY closed off, we need to find a new one that people can enjoy. When we arrived at the summit we looked at each other and said in sync, “This is no Uluru!” It’s beautiful, it’s grand, it’s enchanting.. I could go on.. but it’s no Uluru. We wondered if the people who truly believe this have even visited Uluru and if they have they have clearly forgotten the experience one gets from it. Maybe it was the new-Uluru tongue-in-cheek style!? BUT, according to the description in the GC Multi Cache up here Bald Rock is currently “Australia’s Largest Climbable Rock”, soooo, well, I guess it IS the New-Uluru or Newluru! Regardless if it is or isn’t, it’s a wondrous location and one I shall return to. Thanks for the cache
To all the COs and the maintenance teams, a huge thank you and pleaase forgive my logs - I'm rather tired.
All logs were signed as Smittengranny or SG depending on the sizeof, and space on the logs.
Not prepared to show my beetroot coloured face after climbing up the steep way. Went back the other way to protect my knees. So glad I did as the scenery was wwell worth the walk!
Both days were overcast with light drizzle so I put on the Gortex raincoat and took off for the top. Even with water running down the granite I had enough traction with the boots. Navigated my way through the boulders and the not so steep parts until just 10m away I could see the trig. Nice.
Will add some photos when off the tablet.
