Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

One of only a few finds today. The best being a secluded swimming hole on the nearby Werribee River. our GeoMutts loved that!

Great view here.
Thanks for the Trig.
Thanks Geocaching Australia
The views are well worth a look. I took a quick snap and was then on my way.

Find number 12 out of 16 in the wet today. I have been here over a year ago for the GC.com cache nearby, drove past in the wet and took the snapshot of this trig-point.

Drove up the track to close proximity to the trig point due to the inclement weather. Ran the intervening distance to the summit in the drizzle and snapped a shot of the GPS hanging from one arm of the support structure.
Thanks for posting the Trig point.
The Riddeller.
The navigator was listing the GCA Trig Point as nearest and I didn’t notice the GC cache was second on the list.
I then had to scale the mound for the second time for the GC cache. DOH
A wonderful 360 degree view was to reward that could have only been bettered on a less overcast and misty day but this in no way detracted from the experience.
We really enjoy these Trig Point caches
Our thanks to GCA for adding this facit of the sport to the Australian Caching experience.
Did other cache here the other week, this was before I realized there was the gca site as well.
Cheers g_ordo
I'd been to the event at Merrimu Reservoir earlier in the day and was caching my way west out towards Ballan. The "360° View" GC cache was on my list and, as I approached, I could see that there was a trigpoint nearby (actually, closer than nearby), so I grabbed my camera and made it into a double find.
Thanks GCA and caughtatwork - some fantastic views were to be had from up here.
Not too far from the previous cache find at a Mad Max cache I knew exactly where this TP was as I've found the cache that sits beneath it.
Today I took a few more minutes to admire the 360 degree views from this location. Attached to the log is a panorama that I shot here today.
The picture does nothing for the actual views which are quite stunning.
Thanks to GCA for making trigpoints a reality and allowing to edge ever so much closer to Keeper of Time in the Victorian GCA stakes.
