Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
Official Code: TS5932
Official Name: Cape Byron
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.
Access: PLEASE remember that there is charges for access parking, so bring your plastic or folding money with you, as it is NOT cheap. *You could walk a kilometre instead (each way)*

Thanks Geocaching Australia.
When we got to the top the old two back to back parks were free and with the blessing of the ranger we were able to pay for two spots and park right at the top. How good is that! Good thing we were a bit early as it was much busier when we left.
The kids were excited to see a trig point up here, as they hadn't notices it till up close thanks to the lighthouse.
We walked the Cap Byron loop today, an awesome collection of caches of all sorts, GC and GA, with of course some trigs - awesome!
What a great trig to bring up a trig milestone... It has even been upgraded at some point to stainless steel vanes, something I've never seen before, with its own explanatory plate for muggles to know what it is.
Bring on #400!
Out and about caching around Byron Bay with Tassie Trekkers and we stopped to photograph the trig which is overshadowed by the impressive lighthouse. It was so busy here in the wind and the rain, that while the car turned around (as no spots to park) we jumped out to take the required photo. TFTT
Caching in the area with whitewebbs on a wet and cloudy day and this was one of the trigs we found. Required pic has been added to the gallery.
Many thanks Geocaching Australia for publishing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience.

After dinner we decided to visit the lighthouse, as you do in cyclonic wind.
We strolled around the lighthouse, we had the whole place to ourselves! We actually kind of crab crawled around looking for the trig point, which we located eventually.
Crazy is our middle names!
Not sure what we were thinking as it was rather windy!
We did manage to take a photo of the trig point however.
Thanks for the cache Geocaching Australia
Great view
No problems spotting this one, right next to the lighthouse.....and the required photo was soon in the bag.
Thanks for yet another trig...
*Overall Experience: 4*
A beautiful location.
Got some photos for this, and the Waymark, at 0745. Just after some light drizzle.
NICE to see a FULLY intact trig, so frequently visited (well, at least by the public).
Now, to run along to the most eastern point!
Staying in Byron Bay for a few days and today we took the kids out for a look at the sights, found some caches and some waymarks and this trig point is also a waymark.
TFTC
Nice easy one the way we like them, LOL!
TFTC and cheers

(photo to come)
Sadly all the goats that this area was renowned for seem to have disappeared.
There is parking available on the site, which costs $7, or you can enjoy the nice walk up from Wategos Beach along the walking track. This track also takes you to the most easterly point on the Australian Mainland.
