Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

Offical Code: TS 6212

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Always used to wonder what this was when I visited the grandparents as a young kid. Now that my kids are keen on finding these it's looking a but worse for wear. We found part of a rusty vane in the bushes nearby. The elder two were not keen on photos today though.

Stopped in Arrawarra for the trig and a cuppa with views. Got it all with very few people about. The trig is missing it's vanes and nameplate but was very easily found. A lovely location.

Despite living not that far away, this was my first visit to Arrawarra. Great spot, especially up here on the headland with the trig. I grabbed a few trigs in the area today - this was the last one before heading home.

Heading south and eventually to home, picking up as many trigs as I can...maybe even a cache or two. Funny, it is caches that got me into all this, and they are now secondary to trigs.

A day out visiting the villages and beaches

Drove down here today just to get coffee from the best barista in the world. Of course I had to stop and admire the coast while here. So today I chose a spot with a trig I haven't found yet.
It was interesting to see the waves were so fierce some crashing against south solitary Island sprayed higher than the top of the lighthouse. Wow!

Stunning ocean views from this trig point. TFTT

Found and photographed @ 1520 while I was waiting to have a flat tyre repaired. I then went on to find Woolgoolga trig as well.
Nice to see the intact pole and vanes, but disappointing to have the name plate missing.

As well as a trig this place had it all. Great views, surfers to watch to the south and whales not too far off the shore. Surprised us how long the water spout they blow stays in the air.
Thanks.

Nice easy find and just up the road from where I was staying at Woolgoolga with my parents. Have edited the cache to correct the coords a bit as well as make the D/T more realistic.
