Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

Official Code: TS5936
Official Name: Boambee

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

There is an "Australia Trig Points" Waymark associated with this: http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM10KW_Boambee

This was a nice easy find up and the lookout. The trig has seen better days, with the name plate missing and a bit of graffiti on the concrete pedestal. Lovely views in all directions from up here.

Staying in the area and popped up to the lookout for the view and saw there was a trig right there.

We head back home tomorrow, so shot out after lunch to find some caches on the way to and around Sawtell this afternoon, mainly as there was also a trig down here... which we found. Nice views from this spot too.

Fab views from this lookout. Been here before and missed seeing the trig. Missed it again today on the way past as it's boxed in by tanks but not hard to see at all really.

I had to make an emergency trip to Woolgoolga as it looked like my dad was going in for bowel cancer surgery today, but at the last minute it was called off and instead we drove him into the hospital today for what was expected to be maybe 30 minutes of an iron infusion. Once there that changed into 4 1/2 hours. So I headed off towards Sawtell with my mother and sister to kill some time, have a coffee and sit on a headland or two.

Drove up here and spotted the trig base before I had even checked the GPS to see if there was anything around, so came over for a quick photo. Nice and easy. Unluckily the marker on the side has been removed. Cheers.

you can just see the top of the trig in my shot. i just wanted my photo with cookie monster.

A shame that the name plate has been nicked.

A Trig between two towers Smile

04-Jun-13
This Trig must have been here prior to the water towers, its located between the tanks, not on top as we expected when we pulled into the car park Smile

Thought the bad weather might mean it would be quiet here, but there were actually plenty of people out to see what the wind and waves were up to. Some work being done here with heavy vehicles, creating a bit of a mess. Good views from this trig. Laughing

This trig initially had me fooled at first. Seeing the water towers figured it must be on top, but couldn't see any disk...then I spotted the trig, a traditional one hiding between the towers Surprised Some great views here.

Found whilst looking for a nearby cache. Just love trigs! Another awesome spot found whilst caching. Cool

I was in Sawtell visiting the in-laws and decided to see if there were any more caches to be found.

This one showed up near one of the GC caches I had found on the last visit.

Nice easy one to find (spotted from the car) and there certainly is a great view from this spot.

TFTC Ninja Legends. I will upload a photo shortly.

Cheers!!

Today the brilliant blue ocean and the beautiful blue sky joined together to make a fantastic view as far as the eye could see both north and south. Well worth a visit.

We were there at 3.20pm. We were glad that we came back to this spot and on such a beautiful clear day. We saw a pod of dolphins in the very rough water.
