Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

As part of a big trip up to the far North Eest of Tassie, can we call that FNET like the QLD'rs do? anyway myself and goose booked a few nights in digs in Branxholm so we could search for more out of the way caches this weekend.
Today I drove up from Hobart and dropped my wife and her friend off at the One Night Stand concert in St Helens.
As I had some time for caching I came up and found this trigpoint.

Last time I was here was with muggle Steve and we drove to within a dozen or so metres of this trig. Pity I didn't have a GPS with me...
This time, we walked along the track from the camping area and then onto the beach. Took some photos of the pelicans across the water and a pano, then off to find the trig. It seems we took the long way in, with some ducking and weaving going on, spider webs in the face, and Cathy got scratches on her legs. I think that might be payback for the ant incident at Eddystone....
Eventually arrived at the trig and discussed the red markers and such...
Took the requisite photos and found an easier way back to the old road. Another top view from up here!
Great views when you arrive.
Found and logged at 1320hrs.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.
Great views from the lookouttoday and plenty of wind. TFTC
Views are a ripper from here, but you've gotta climb up on the trig to get the best of them. So many enticing sand dunes up and down the coast - an must-stop on an East Coast journey.
For those who seek TrigPoints and standard geocaches, they can consider themselves lucky and can claim a "two for one" deal provided they meet the requirements of both cache listings.
