Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.
This TRIG is best accessed off Nook Rd. Sheffield, turning into a gravel road and parking at signage at S41 21.907 E146 20.807
Follow the old quarry road along face of hill until reaching a small dam and some wind blown trees obscuring the track....I've placed some pink tape here and along initial part of foot track. The track is in good condition and well graded. Follow signage to the Trig Beacon.

This was the 5th today, 62nd cache of the trip.
This cache has been on my "TO DO" list for some time and I nearly passed it by again today - real glad I didn't!
A nice walk from the car to GZ with a few Black Cockies flying about and screeching
The walk in took a little less than the time given on the Walk Board
WOW!! Was this walk worth it - DEFINITELY!!
This was the longest and hardest walk done thru the four day trip, but genuinely the best!
The sweeping views were fantastic
Lingered here for a long time taking in the scene - I loved it!
Sainted the cache at 1050hrs.
TFTC and cheers

You can see our house from up here
The physical cache here is still alive and well even though being found by more muggles than cachers.
After the stormy weekend today was perfect with almost clear skies. Three years and two months since last here...geopooches(Sirius) first trip though. I think the winter has caught us both out of condition...but I'm sure with heaps of Trigs to visit we'll soon remedy that. Glorious views on top...magic day...couldn't wipe away Sirius's grin and delight at finally getting a decent walk. Sirius(4 paws) has laid down the challenge to all his canine friends to notch up the most Trig visits...with photos of course.
Had a ball coming back up here...many thanks GCA...great theme....Cheers.
