Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Staying in Port Hughes for the weekend. Out and about caching and taking photos for the day. Always great to get back to this beautiful state. Geocaching - Always a great way to explore areas. Lovin' life, coffees and caches, waymarks and photos letting my GPS be my guide. Does it get any better than travelling this great land of ours? It's amazing to see the country in the eyes of a Geocacher.
Thanks for the Trig Point Geocaching Australia. Appreciate you highlighting this area and bringing me here.
Cheers & TFTC
One of Plenty of trigs we saw on this trip. I hope I get the right picture on each trig.
Thanks.

Thanks for yet another trig.....we managed just over 30 for the trip.
We started the day as a group of 13, aiming to cycle from Moonta to Cape Elizabeth then The Gap along the beach and onto Balgowan on the track. Our leader got us 'lost' within spitting distance of Moonta and we finished up at the back of Pt Hughes. Group concensus was to ride along the beach to Cape Elizabeth - it was a slog through some ridable areas, some areas where the bike needed to be walked and a couple where carrying was the easiest option. At Cape Elizabeth 13 became 2.
My partner and I then headed south to The Gap. Going was good until the incoming tide pushed us up the beach, off the hard sand and into the 4wd tyre tracks and soft sand. More walking the bike.
From The Gap we came to the first road north, it was dirt, and my partner was starting to struggle. He wanted to hit the bitumen so we blindly continued to head east to the main road, getting there after another 9km on dirt road. This is where we stopped for the break.
For us it wasn't so much the location but the journey.
TFTC and the litte'un.
S34° 14.578'
E137° 38.464'
These coordinates are actually on the highest point in the area, but someone must have conveiniently moved the marker to it's current location so us geocachers may log it! Nice one, farmer Weetulta!
Located in the very corner of a paddock at an intersection, it's the perfect drive-by.
