Description
Mt Oberon Trig Also Known as Tallang PM3
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself.
Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
This Trig Point only has the Brass plate Glued to the rock it does not have a Beacon above it But the Views from GZ are Great & well worth the walk from the Car Park.
If you are taking youg Children to this one keep the on a short leash as there is no railing @GZ & it's a long way down.
Using the web-based "Survey Marks Enquiry Service (SMES)", the details for this survey mark have been acquired.

Fantastic views and well worth the effort of walking up this hill
*Apologies for the late log
Thanks for the Trig Point and another reason for bringing me here.
Took a day off work to do some geocaching
Weather was not kind at summit of "Oberon"
Easy survey marker to locate (look towards the right as you step out onto the summit).
Take care if the granite rocks are wet as they'll be very slippery.
I ended up hiking to "Mt Bishop" later on the same day and was rewarded with amazing views and even found a cache (by pure fluke)
Loved the spot and the trigpoint was a bonus.
All that remains of the trig point are the impressions of the feet and the disk.
Glorious views await from this Trig.
Its the highest publicly accessible spot on the Prom
Thanks

Found this on another one of those work trips to some of the great places in this great brown land of ours.
