Description

Previously named Yenda Trig

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Extra Information:

I saw this trig on the water tower as I drove out of Griffith.  The closest you can get to it seems to be on the 'Yega Leeton Rd'

There is no hill here, so happy hunting.

Day three of our LGA chase out through Bega, Cooma, Tumut, Wagga and Dubbo. The weather deteriorated in Wagga, so we decided the warm car was a nice place to be, so we extended the LGA hunt out as far as Griffith, bagging another five councils, and still making out dinner reservation! We grabbed several trigs as we went too. The countryside out here is really interesting, it was worth the drive....

Loving our road trip out west with Outdoornut, trying not to let the wet weather discourage us from getting outside. We thought we would head out and do some caching and trigging.

A long weekend brings with it a weekend of camping and caching. fitzy_1965 and I decided to do a loop from Goulburn out to Naranderra, Griffith, Condoblin and back home so I could pick up the last few counties out that way.

Today was heading from Naranderra to Griffith via Leeton. Nice quick park and snap.

Caching around NSW grabbing as many shires/counties as possible during this COVID19 as all borders are closed to prevent the spread of this highly contagious virus. I can't resist grabbing the odd GCA cache especially if it is a trig. TFTT Geocaching Australia. Photo attached. Clan CerberusClan Cerberus

With a well-deserved day off work and nothing on until tonight, I took the opportunity to do some caching around Griffith and attempt some FTF’s that had popped up over the weekend. After checking the caches at the start of the day, there were still no finds on two of the three caches. Out of the 13 caches I wanted to find today and I turned 12 of them into a Smile. I made 6 GC (includes 2 FTF’s) and 6 GCA finds today with 1 DNF. I also had 3 really enjoyable hikes though the bush with amazing views. Throughout my adventures today, I also stopped and had a look around ‘Hermit’s Cave’ which is a very interesting area. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found today and for allowing them to bring joy to me and others. Big Grin TFTC’s and TFTTP’s Big Grin

Had a long three days of caching with a total of 2054 km done! Enjoyed every minute of it despite some dissapointments as well. Most caches I found were really nice and in good condition, thanks to all the CO for putting them out there! Trip Kiama-down the Hume to Albury/Wodonga-Along the Murray to Cobram-back to NSW and via Hay to Ivanhoe=back down to Griffith-Temora-Yass and home.

WanderingAus wandered by with the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO) on day 119 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, after 11 weeks in Darwin and a couple of weeks meandering across and down through Queensland we continued on down the Kidman Way to Griffith. The WanderingMrs had determined through the wonders of the Information Superhighway that there was line dancing the night before in Griffith, as well as a few nights later, so we checked in to the caravan park for at least four nights.

We headed out on another long tourist drive, making our way via Yenda to Leeton when I spotted the water tank with the trig on top, so we stopped and I took the obligatory photo.

This one appears to be the typical black disc on top of a steel pipe, fixed on top of a large water tank.

now these are the trigs I like =) can't get bogged getting these ones (like i did earlier in the day trying to get another one.)

Don't you just hate it when someone puts a perfectly good trig point on top of a bl**dy big water tower Shocked
How am I supposed to stand next to that ? Mad
At least it's not on top of a 10 story hospital like one trig point in one NSW regional centre Dancing

Well I am going to claim this one anyway, even if I couldn't climb the tower.
I got out of the geomobile too Razz
There is a great little picnic spot and park on the other side of the canal from which to snap a piccy.

15-Jul-10
Spotted on the way home from Mildura. Easliy located.

04-Nov-09
I came past here on a trip from Mungo and Willandra NP. Perhaps not quite as close as you can get, but close enough.
