Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
Acess to this TrigPoint is easiest via Swan's Road at co-ords: S37 38.422, E144 24.464.
If the gate is open, an easily accessible slightly rough track will take you there. My 2WD did it easily. If the gate is locked the walk is about 350m up to an elevation of around 350m at the trigpoint itself.
From this location you get almost uninerrupted views of the You Yangs and the Melbourne CDB and the view alone is worth the effort to get to this cache.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Great views up here. Nice Trig.
The section of the road at the entrance was very sloppy and rutted so we decided to leave our two wheel drive street car at the entrance and make the short walk to the top.
As we started our walk the sun came out and we enjoyed the warmth on our backs as we climbed the gentle slope.
It is always disappointing to see that some people have used areas like this to dump household rubbish.
As we neared the hill top we spotted the trig marker which is dwarfed by the hugh communications towers near by. After taking the required photos we checked out the 360 degree views that can be seen from this point. Well worth the walk for the views alone.
In hind sight we would have been able to drive all the way to the top in our 2wd as the road was quite solid after the entrance area.
Another trigpoint dominated by The Empire's Jeep.

After leaving the nearby event at Merrimu Reservoir, I was doing some caching further west and the lure of two caches at the one spot was too much to resist - especially as I was able to make them into a drive-by after coming up the nicely muddy track from the open gate below. I would have liked it if the weather had been a bit more friendly while I was there, but it didn't stop me from taking in the expansive views and, after logging the GC cache, I whipped out the camera to get this one too.
Thanks GCA and caughtatwork
Thanks for the posting.
The Riddeller and company.
After finding the nearby GC cache today I couldn't miss the opportunity to catch this TP. It seems that it wasn't in the database so I captured the co-ords and took the pictures and when I got home it went in straight away.
I think I'll claim FTF on this cache.
You get some great views from up here and it's more that worth the visit as I drove up from the entry point which makes this an easy driveby 1/1 cache.
Thanks (to me) for the opportunity to find a GCA TrigPoint cache.
This gets me ever so much closer to Keeper of Time in the Victorian GCA leaderboard.
