Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Light houses lure me like a magnet, and ever time I’m on the island I come up here for a look.
Last time I was up here I wasn’t into Geocaching.
Myself and Goose had talked about a Bruny Island trip for a bit now and with the publication of some new caches the other day the trip was brought forward in our caching schedule.
So today I was our of the house before 6am and ready to pick the goose up at 6.15, with a good drive down to the ferry we just made it on to the 7am sailing, being the last car on.
After a full day making our way round the island, getting some nice finds and a few DNF's well not DNF's we gave up on a few before we event got to GZ, we managed to get a space on the 5.30 ferry back and were home before 7 for once
Thanks to all the CO for the caches.
Decided to do a tour of the lighthouse this mornibg, which was most enjoyable.
'Found' both the trig point, and the virtual lighthouse.
Thanks for the cache listing.
Interesting museum and interesting history here.

I spent the weekend down Bruny Island playing tourist and getting a few caches in. I spent some time trying to find the other physicals hidden cache but to no avail.
Although this o e would be hard to miss.
A few muggles around today and we all seemed to wait until each other had taken their photos before the next would move in for their photo shoot. I decided to sit down for a while, out of the wind and just watch them.
Eventually I got up and did my thing, searching for the brass marker but some quick research on my iPhone indicated the marker is concreted into the floor at the centre of the lighthouse. I did find one of the bolts concreted into the rock outside though.
A new fence has been erected on 3 sides to stop visitors from wandering off and falling over the cliffs. That wasn't there last time I was here...
photo to come
Very relaxing place and you feel like you are at the end of the earth
