Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.
Turn off the South Riana Road into Loyetea Road at S41 15.415 E145 57.962 then follow to next junction at S41 18.092 E145 57.027 and turning onto a track at S41 18.779 E145 57.097.
Those with 4wd can drive within a 5min walk of the summit....many thanks to Forestry Tasmania for cleaning off the very degraded original track making the drive/walk a lot easier now.

so we bailed out and will have to come back and walk it another day.
The trip up was steep. Very steep, I didn't realize how steep it was until I was coming down and had to be careful not to slip. A couple of things to note about the walk to the cache - this road is no longer drivable. No way anyway could drive over the huge washed away sections now. Happy to be proven wrong, but I wouldnt want to be in the car. Just before the turnoff to the walk, the local property owner has placed a number of "Speed Humps". Be Careful as the second one is very deep. I didnt think you should be able to play with the roads, but apparently, not many people go up here. I will attach some photos of the track.
The Views - Even though it wasn't a nice day with one very small shower on the way up and many clouds around the summit of nearby hills, the views were great and photos attached show the distance of the views.
The wildlife - none seen except a few birds, no snakes spotted for a change.
The walk up took about 45 minutes, I didnt time it for a change. The walk back was a lot easier, although not quick as it was slippery. I spent about 25 minutes on the summit just sucking it all in. (Including a few large breathes)
Today I drove up from Hobart and my mission was to find Loyeta Peak ST513 and some other caches as time allowed.
The drive up the track was a bit rough and wouldn't recommend any one try it with out a 4WD and some experience on rough tracks. I managed to get to the parking area at the top but bottomed out a couple of time on the way back down.
After getting the required photos of the trig I quickly found your cache as it wasn't covered at all. After signing the log and replacing it I covered it a little better.
I did go for a walk to the end of the ridge but the views are better from the trig and aren’t they great.

Walked the remainder - golly - there are cliffs! Found the trig and the cache nearby. A great view if a little windy today.
Thanks.
great climb would have been better view if day was clear.
Finding access roads proved a little difficult, the unsign-posted turn off is at S 41 18.084 E 145 57.027 and we should have parked at the quarry at S 41 18.768 E 145 57.222.
