Description

mount Pleasant 2015 TS12254R

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Mount Pleasant 2015.

Serial number is: TS12254R.

Last Inspected on: May 6, 2015.

Elevation is: 131 metres.

This is the new trig a steel mast with vanes replacing the previous trig TS5087 which was a tube frame.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

This Trig is located at the top of the large water tank adjacent Mount Pleasant Lookout, at the southern end of the "Kiama Bends" on the Princes Highway south of Kiama. It provides great views south over Gerringong.

We are staying in Kiama this week and as it was much cooler today than yesterday, I figured it was a good time to take a drive Gerringong, Seven Mile Beach and Berry. On the way, we stopped to take in the view from Billy's Lookout ... and to grab a photo of the trig!

Another trig I found today. Unfortunately I hadn't entered all the caches in my GPSr correctly and I ended up driving back and forth a couple of times in this area searching for GC and GCA caches. Thanks for publishing this trig for us to search for Geocaching Australia. DancingDancingClan CerberusClan Cerberus

Found when stopped in here on the way from Kiama to Gerringong for coffee as you do. Others here were flying a drone and scanning with a metal detector. It was a happening spot, and a cache!
Thanks again for highlighting this trig.
Cheers MajuraHathi

As we drove from Kiama back to Geringnong this morning we stopped at the Mount Pleasant Lookout. There are certainly great views of the coastline from this vantage point. We also located the trig point beacon on the reservoir. The required photo has been added to the Gallery. Thanks for the cache.

Arrived here for a cache find and found an unexpected Trig. When I went to log it I couldn't see it on the map and thought it was unlisted, but wondered how that could be so. As it happens it is here, so maybe I had an unintentional and unknown filter activated. After getting my photo it was off caching again. The views are stunning.

#GA2177 - 12:50; After a pleasant night in Gerringong and an excellent breakfast at the Gerringong Deli & Cafe on Fern Street, the geohoney and I were taking a round about way home doing a bit of retail and caching along the way. After bagging some trigs in Gerringong and Gerroa and a visit to the Blow Hole at Kiama, we were now headed south along the highway towards Berry when we dropped by to grab a snap of this trig as we passed, having missed it on previous runs along this road. As we were heading south we saw the sign for the lookout here and detoured in. Noticed the obvious trig as we parked. Checked and it was one registered on GCA so took the require photo while here. They don't get much easier than this one.
Thanks.

On the move with rogerw3 from seeking trigs along the 'gong escarpment.

A pleasant rest stop area with ample parking and an easy photo of the trig upon the reservoir. Appeared to be in good condition, and from rogerw3's log there has been a recent replacement.

Found with Whitemushroom on our tour of Trigs in the area.

Worth noting that this is the new replacement for the original tube frame structure as shown in previous photos.

On heading further south from a night caching expedition at Menai with a great group of friends I thought I would not only get a couple of Geodashes but also enough Australian Trig Points for Waymarking, but also for GCA to keep me going for a short while.
Stopped in the 'pull-over' and the trig was sitting up high and proud. Got the photos before others pulled in to enjoy the view down the coast.
Spectacular. Found @ 1000.

Stopped on the way down to the Nowra event with Spindoctors and Zalgariath. When I first moved to Sydney in the early 80s the family I boarded with had a holiday house down below so spent a bit of time down here, don't think they had the lookout back then though.

Top view over the ocean from this spot. Really is a beautiful area.

12-Dec-09
I did stop here on several occasions to check for a nice hide. So far no good idea has come to me! I can still admire an recommend the views here!

01-Dec-09
Pulled in here for the first time in my life, despite living 'over there behind that hill' for some 30 years. The southerly was in full force requiring me to hide behind the UAV to take the photo. The wind brought tears to my eyes so will have to call in some other time to take in the extensive view. Would be a good location for a cache!

28-Nov-09
I've always known "I'm home!" every time I round this bend and see the Gerringong coastline. Worth visitng here for one of the best views in the world. especially around late afternoon when the beautiful golden light stretches across the farmland to the beach.

25-Nov-09
Have driven past here for years, but believe it or not, this was the first time I have ever stopped here. The views of Gerringong, and if a clear day further are excellent, any time of day or night.
