Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.
Using the web-based "Survey Marks Enquiry Service (SMES)", the mark-name and alternane name for this survey marker have being acquired.
The official name for the trig-point is "Baw Baw-Fumina North PM 6"

Never been to Baw Baw.
But I wanted to Wab Wab.
Well some will understand.

An event at Toorongo Falls got me closer to the mountain than I expected to be any time soon, so I took the opportunity.
The drive in is a nice workout... almost 40km of twists, turns, switchbacks, steep grades, and oh, so much fun. I have to admit I enjoyed the challenge and the views.
Even in midsummer, the weather can be interesting, and visibility was about 40 metres in the day carpark when I arrived. Perfect for a walk around to the summit and back.
In all, a little over ten klicks of walking while I collected clues to a mystery cache, logged this trig point and took photos for another challenge.
Thanks, Geocaching Australia.
There's nothing better than a spot that gives you a fun thing to discover, and multiple smileys. I made sure to take a few happy snaps for posterity.

I was celebrating our arrival, so got a photo ontop of the trig itself!
Finally finished my third D/T loop at GC. doing the first seven of the Wab Wab series.
Couldn't resist climbing up here for a photo opp and noticed the survey marker.
Bonus smilie!
Stopped here for lunch.
Yep that is me, the brightly clad in the wrong decade person.
A lovely and peaceful walk to the top with no lifts operating, pity that there is no view from here.
Walked to the summit of Mount Baw Baw and found the Trig point.
There are views approx 100m from the Trig Point.
Enjoy.
Have been here a number of times before and used the location to start my "Dash" cache back in 05. Love the area and wish I had more time to explore these days.
