A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Today i decided to tackle some virtual type caches around town. i usually prefer physical caches but i have had a really enjoyable time finding trig points, virtuals, and history ones today.
We drove right to this one from Tucker St...
spotted the poppet head whilst doing the nearby Adventure Lab.
Drove up for a closer look and the saw this Trig.
Thank you.
'Uncle Dan' finally decided to let us 'unclean' Melbourne Metro people to travel to regional so was great to be able to get back to Bendigo to catch up with family again and to grab a cache or two.
Many thanks for highlighting this area.
TFTT GCA.
This cache is worth a shiny smiley to celebrate 15 years of Geocaching Australia.
Love a drive by trig. And this one came with pretty flowers too.
Thanks.
TFTT and the Forrest.
Last one for the day before heading to the RSL for lunch.
Didn't get out of the car due to rain but been here before to admire the view. Great location, thanks for bringing us here!
Photo to come.
The photos took - date is 20th March 2010.
Always enjoy going to a trig point to admire the views. This one was a very short walk from the nearest parking spot and with the necessary photo taken it was back on the road to the next cache.
Thanks Phetlern for adding this one to GCA.

GCA Cache # 17
In Bendigo for the big day of events.
No better time to do the trigpoint caches here.

Approaching home time for Jess and I who were up here as a result of some driving practice for the eldest. I drove around town and she's driving up and back to Melbourne.
This was the easiest find of the day with Jess remaining in the car while I ducked out for a quick snapshot.
Thanks Phetlern for listing this TP on GCA. It wasn't in my GPS, but I knew it was listed so I had to call home to get the co-ords, just so I could find it up here.
Found by Roma and Max.
This is not the first time we have been in this vicinity, originally exploring the area for its geo hiding possibilities, and again later on for the view!
There are most likely many more of these unlisted points around this area as well.
