A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Yeeharr!
Not been here for 10yrs?

We were also paying a parabolic visit to the area. Our daughter started by racing up the stairs but after an ant bite or sting on the arm she slowed right down. We weren't expecting a trig point up here so it was a nice surprise as we went up through the last steps. Certainly calmed her down.

We enjoyed the great views and some of the old engravings before heading back down to the car.

paying a hyperbolic visit and thought to stop by this on the way. Nice views!

Headed up here to see what there was that was so pleasant to look out for at this lookout and found this familiar white post. Listed as a "Steel Pillar (Rooftop Type)", its vanes and post are long gone, replaced by a plastic cover on the instrument mount. The witness mark carved into the rock about 1.3m WSW is quite elaborate. And what was there to lookout for? - a great view across the water towards Staples lookout.

Found steel pillar (rooftop type) at Mount Plesent lookout, scenic views of Brisbane waters and the peninsular, is just a short walk from the car.

Up on the Central Coast catching up with family at Lisarow. After lunch headed to the beach collecting some GC caches as well as some trigs along the way. Caught up with some of our regular caching crew who were also close by this afternoon. With the heat today, this was a good cardio workout in order to reach the trig.

A steep walk on a very hot day, but we made it!!!!

After finding oodles of trigs at sea level around Lake Macquarie it was back to uphill trigs around Gosford, almost like home! A good uphill slog to snap the required photo of the trig. Great views from the top. TFTT

Found this at 3:26pm. I have seen this trig for so long on my map. The problem to finding it is the distance to travel all the way around Brisbane Water as I live almost directly across the water. Today I had to drop the son off nearby Green Point to pick a car up after getting some Maccas for lunch at West Gosford and I decided to go and grab this since earlier we had been at Sydney airport and my urge to find caches was not satisfied because he wanted to get home. I was hoping for a bit of a view and did see a bit but trees as usual blocked a lot of the scenery. What I did notice was some of the old carvings in the rock from visitors 1940 and 1942, 1943 hmm don't see too many of that age from environmental vandals.
Took some obligatory photos though best I could given my GPS is my camera and phone, so used my Maccas drink which I used for refreshment as climbed the steep track up to here.

It's always a pleasure to come across a new trig point, as it means another GCA 'cache' found! Very Happy It's also wonderful being able to see the Brisbane Waters or Central Coast in general from so many new perspectives. Although I cannot confirm or deny why I was here today. Cool Cheers all!

Had to get out today. Had a cache of mine to check on in Sara and decided to come up here for a while. Its a lovely spot. Wow, sure enough, the trig is a GCA cache Very Happy TFTC. I must start getting a few more GCA caches. Unloved years to be had by all..

Another one on our run around the Gosford area finding trigs. Had never been over this way before. A steep walk up to GZ to some great views although it would have been better in the days when they used to hack all the trees down. Trig has suffered at the hands of vandals with not much left apart from the post. Plaque long souvenired. You wonder what people do with them? Throw them in a drawer and chuck them out years later? Didn't even think to look for the nearby GC cache.

11/01/14. 6:29 AM. GCA Cache #11. Found amongst 6 GC finds this morning, after today's first (Best Brisbane Water View). On the way up to BBWV, I'd already been guessing to myself that there'd be a trig up here and I saw it before I'd even found BBWV. After I'd found that cache I sat down, looked on the GCA website and confirmed that the trig was indeed a GCA, so I took the required snaps (will add them on my return to Sydney). Headed back down the trail to the car, then onto my next cache, Boora Boora. TFTC }: )

Well i don't ususally go out of my way to hunt for a trig, but this one was right in my line of sight, when attempting the nearby cache,so walked over and logged it in.
this area has a lot of names scratched into the rocks, some of the names and dates go back to when Saratoga was a sea plane base during WWII.
