Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar , resembling a navigation beacon (Which this one Doesn't have). It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies. (This trigpoint was not in the initial database uploaded to GCA).
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.
Additional information:
This trigpoint is located on top of "Whitecliffs", near Rye, overlooking Port Phillip Bay. It is a short climb up a well-structured pathway to the trigpoint, where you will find spectacular views across Rye to the east, and Blairgowrie to the west.
Please don't climb the fence to reach the trigpoint - a photo from the railing (a few metres from the TP) is close enough for a find!

Sure enough, there it is on the GCA map and the necessary photo was taken shortly after.
Turns out that this is my 300th GCA find too! Thrilling!
Thanks to Geocaching Australia for this trig point listing!
Great views. We had flocks of seagulls pass by and a pair of Pelicans.
A short climb from the caravan park but I must have taken a wrong turn somewhere as I ended up outside of the path...oops.
Never mind got there in the end, great view from up here.
One of the many trigs we have found in our travels. A nice walk to this trig and lovely view.

Unfortunately it is not a selfie, but it was taken at 2:16pm by myself
Thanks!
Thanks for the trig....and great views.
I was using my phone as GPSr and camera so the photo is a bad selfie.
Thanks Geocaching Australia
A TrigPoint by the sea. Wheeeeeeee!
A quick stroll up the stairs (not too hard) to get to the TP as it looks out over the sea. I wonder how many people know what this thing is for?
*Overall Experience: 3*
It was a great walk to the top.
The view was great at night too.

Having failed at the nearby GC Cache, we thought we'd at least put this one under our belt.
Unfortunately the vista today was reduced by mist but we can imagine the view that would be available on a good visibility day.
So I stopped to log it.
