Description

Trig point in the 'Bald Hill Nature Conservation Reserve"

The name of this trig point is  KANGERONG PM  325 BALD HILL NO 2

The Number is 283103250

Bald Hill 2 trigpoint is located in the Bald hill nature reserve near Dromana

Gold was found at Bald Hill in 1851 Extensive gutters were dug contour wise around the hill side to catch rain run off and channel the water to a dam washing gravels dug, this could explain the absence of large trees and hence the name Bald Hill

Also there is a GC cache near by Being bald gives you all the views By Bushwalkingbandit

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar , resembling a navigation beacon (Which this one Doesn't have). It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

PS you will not be disappointed with the views

                                                                            Happy caching Oakydog

I got a bit confused at the top of the hill, thinking that I needed to go through the fence to get to the highest point. Nope! Just follow the trail alongside the house and it's futher down the hill.

Nice easy walk with a lovely view! Hard to find entrance point, not a lot of good parking! But fun thank you

We started our caching day with a short walk to the trig marker on Bald Hill. We followed the directions on the cache page and where soon on our way passed a yard of barking muggles, then a nearby GC cache and finally the trig beacon. We were unable to locate the brass button due to the dense bush growth.

We have added a photo of Mrs Y'stassie at the trig beacon. We enjoyed the walk to this trig point and the views were superb making the walk well worth the effort.

Decided to make the drive out and visit this trig during my day off work.

Nice easy short hike from the entrance at "BROWNE LN" within vicinity of 'ESTA-Emergency Marker-NPP503'.

Amazing views..well worth the drive.

The base of the trig is covered in overgrown shrub so I was not keen to ruffle around it in-case some slithery friends objected!! Ribbit

A hot day for a walk but I am collecting points for the Summer Scavenger Series so this trigpoint gains me a few more points for my clan.
My parents-in-law are looking for walks for their Probus group to do but there is not much here to see (apart from the view) so I think that they can miss this little hike to a great view. I had a nice walk. I am bad at selfies so just my hat is in view.

Managed to sneak a day of work so what better than go in search of a few caches. Found this Trig point after a short and pleasant walk and WOW what a view, excellent.

Another Monday night and another caching run. I had my eyes set on a Diabolical cache down south so headed off in that direction. The weather was warm, and the walks were long, and the humidity in some areas high. Unfortunately the caching radar was off tonight so there quite a few DNF’s, but also some great moments, like the view from Bald Hill.

A great view for up here. Thanks OD.

A quick stroll over from 'Being Bald' and we had the TrigPoint in view. While The Mini Mob was off taking pictures, I did the needful for logging the cache and then we both admired the staggering views from this location.
This TrigPoint epitomises what geocaching is all about. It is really one the best view TP's that I've attempted. The view across the water and the land in multiple directions is very much worth the effort.
*Overall Experience: 5*
Thanks to Oakydog for locating and listing this TP at Geocaching Australia.
